Rob Sprance wanted a home theater, but he didn’t want to place it in the basement or the garage. So instead he decided to tear out his second bedroom. The room is the last room on the second floor and is the only room that had the ceiling clearance for the theater. The room features two rows of seating and features a 108” screen and a Panasonic PT-AE2000U. This projector features an impressive 16000:1 contrast ratio, 1500 ANSI lumens, and a HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. One concern that Rob had to consider was the theater’s noise. If the construction isn’t done right, the sound will leak into the rest of the house. However, with the finished theater, Rob stated that even with the theater on a high setting, he can not even hear the sound in the master bedroom, which is right next door. The only help that Rob had with the construction of the theater was the demolition of the existing room. The room was taken down to the studs and even had the walk in closet removed for extra room. Once the room was gutted, Rob was on his own to build the theater he wanted. [via Electronic House]
