The home owners of this home theater wanted a sense of “magic” to their home theater. Sure they got the big screen, amazing audio and video quality, and easy to control remote system, but they wanted something more. To really wow their guests they asked Audio Video Concepts to make the screen appear that it is floating in mid air. To achieve this, the designers mounted the acoustic panels against the wall and then mounted the screen separately and away from the panels. Typically in traditional theaters you would mount the screen directly to the sound panels. The setup gives the impression of a shadowbox effect. The frame of the screen is highlighted with backlighting to keep the viewers attention on the screen. It also helps make the screen stand out from the dark background, enhancing the illusion. The screen measures 110” diagonally and is paired with the Runco CL-610 projector, which features 1150 ANSI lumens, a 2200:1 contrast ratio, and HD (1280 x 720) resolution. [via Electronic House]
