One of Mitsubishi’s best home theater projectors is the HC6800. This projector features 1500 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 30000:1 contrast ratio. Recently, Home Theater Review got to test this projector and see how good it really is. The first thing they mentioned was the projector’s curved cabinet. This is a big improvement over the boxy design that most projectors use. The HC6800 comes with a diverse connection panel that really appealed to the writers. The panel included two HDMI ports, a RGB, composite, s-video, and 12V trigger port for automated lifts or screens. After a quick setup and some minor image adjustment, the writer was able to see the image quality. They really liked how clean and natural the picture looked. They also thought that the best feature was the black levels and contrast. As impressive as the projector was, it did come with some problems. The first being that the quality was not the best when you look at the price range. There were some flaws with the image and they are minor flaws that you would not expect to see with a projector retailing for what the HC6800 does. The other major problem with the image is the motion blurr. The writer found that there was a lot of motion judder with fast motion sports events. The final comment the writer made was, “The Mitsubishi HC6800 is a good performer that serves up a pleasingly clean, natural, and detailed image with all different source types. This projector is especially well suited to someone who plans to watch a lot of HDTV content in their theater room, but it’s also a reasonably priced option for the movie lover on a budget who wants to mate it with a 2.35:1 screen and anamorphic lens. It offers a nice set of connections, picture adjustments, and motorized setup tools, and it’s very quiet. For a street price of under $2,500, the HC6800 represents an excellent combination of performance, features, and value and is definitely worth a look.” [via Home Theater Review]
