The HTC HD2 will be distributed through T-Mobile exclusively – this was announced by Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer in his CES keynote. The device will use a capacitive touchscreen display running at 480×800, and will be powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. It will also have 512 MB RAM, and Wi-Fi support.

For those of you looking to get as much connectivity as possible, there’s also Bluetooth 2.1, and 7.2 Mbps HSPA 3G. The HD2 will also be running Windows Mobile Professional 6.5, using the Sense UI developed by HTC.

The Sense has been widely advertised as creating an entirely new experience for the user, allowing them to navigate the device with ease. There are many features packed with the phone to make that experience even better – like a proximity sensor which prevents accidental screen touches when, for example, picking up the phone. A light sensor will turn down the display’s brightness when you’re in a dark room, but this particular feature is already present in many other devices on the market.
