The DS2 development kit is in the hands of a few select companies, the hardware as well. And according to one developer, Nintendo says that the DS2 was the first version, not the final version, nevertheless he’s impressed. Here’s what he had to say:

It would be great to use your iPhone as a universal remote, wouldn’t it? Sure it would! The only problem is, it doesn’t really work without a clunky IR transmitter attached to it. On the other hand, your iPhone can talk to other stuff through Bluetooth… It’s just too bad that your AV equipment can’t deal with that. You see where this is going, right?

Check out the MintRadio that was designed by Jongchul Kim, where it surely would make a pretty nice ornament in the living room since it has decided to drop knobs for its controls, settling for pendulums instead. Features will include stereo horn speakers, a LED tuner display and a shiny white exterior that will no doubt attract a whole lot of fingerprints from curious folks. Too bad this is but a concept only, and it will feel rather strange pulling on pendulums instead of fiddling with knobs methinks.
