Say it ain’t so. Could a firmware update lead to the untimely death of your PS3’s Blu-Ray drive? Maybe. The actual cause is still unconfirmed, but many users over at the Playstation forums are reporting problems with Modern Warfare 2 after updating their consoles to the 3.10 firmware.

They’re experiencing freezing while playing the game, and then after checking, experiencing more freezing in other games too. Speculation is that the firmware has somehow affected the Blu-ray drives. There isn’t any official answer

While PdaNet is a great way to tether your phone, if you want to tether your Motorola Droid over Wi-Fi, you’ll need to get your hands a little dirty. Folks over at the DroidForums.net have come up with a hacked version of the 2.0.1 firmware which will allow you to do just that. Of course, you’ll have to keep in mind that fiddling with your mobile phone’s firmware means that you have a rather high possibility of bricking your phone. If you have a WD TV Live HD media box, you might want to think twice about downloading a recent firmware update from Western Digital. Forum complaints report nothing but a blank screen after downloading the v1.101.12 update.

Western Digital knows about the problem and has pulled the update from its site. Until the issue is fixed, it is better to stay clear of that “upgrade now” screen until the next patch arrives. Hopefully WD is taking care of those people affected.

The big problem was that the firmware update killed Windows 7 installs, which is a big issue considering the operating system is required and all. Intel removed the firmware from its website after the problem arose. Intel has now

Nice to know that the latest firmware update 6.20 for the Sony PSP will introduce an additional column in the XMB called “Extras.” Under this column lies the “Digital Comics” category that will kick off in December when Sony starts to roll out digital comic books via the Playstation Store. Alongside that addition to encourage little ones to read more, Sony also increased the potency of their compatibility with Media Go software, enabling users to view videos and listen to audio playlists created within Media
