Verizon Motorola Droid Android 2.0 Phone Now Official

Finally Verizon and Motorola officially announced the DROID by Motorola smartphone that is the first to be powered by Android 2.0 (Eclair) OS. As reported before, the Motorola Droid has a 3.7-inch 480×854 touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel auto-focus camera with Dual LED flash, and a side-slide QWERTY keyboard.

The DROID is boosted by a ARM Cortex A8 550MHz processor. It supports GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. The Android smartphone includes Google Mobile Services, including the latest Google Map Navigation Beta application. The DROID is equipped with Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, ambient light sensor as well as eCompass.

Verizon’s version of Motorola Droid supports CDMA 1X 800/1900, EVDO rev. A network and Motorola is preparing a GSM/WCDMA version as well. It will be available on 6 November for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate) with 2-year contract.
